Advanced Security Certification Program in the Works
CompTIA's Security+ certification is getting a more advanced sibling, an advanced enterprise security administration certification. This advanced security certification program from CompTIA is designed for security professionals with at least ten years of IT experience with five or more years of hands-on security experience. The depth of the certification's objectives and critical thinking skills required will be more advanced than those of the entry-level Security+ certification.
A Job Task Analysis took place on September 30, 2010 followed by the Item Development Workshop in early November.
While the exact details have yet to be finalized, the following certification domains have been identified:
- Enterprise Security
- Risk Management, Policies and Procedures, and Legal
- Research and Analysis
- Computing, Communications, and Business Disciplines Integration
In order to earn CompTIA's advanced security certification, the successful candidate must have relevant work experience and pass one certification exam covering all of the above domains. Like all of CompTIA's existing certification programs, the advanced security certification will be vendor neutral and will require a wide range of knowledge and skills expected of enterprise-level security professionals.
