Cisco Updates the CCDA Certification Track

Those interested in the popular certifications offered by Cisco will be interested to know that Cisco has updated its CCDA, or Cisco Certified Design Associate certification curriculum. This associate level design certification curriculum is a popular one with IT workers and employers and both workers and hiring managers will want to be aware of these important changes.

The new Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions (DESGN) curriculum has been designed to emphasize the converged enterprise network model, in order to facilitate the preparation, planning, implementation, operation and optimization of the network. Other updates to the program include case studies and the presentation of services virtualization which is based on the service oriented network architecture, also known as SONA.

This new DESGN curriculum incorporates a number of different products, services and technologies in order to teach the skills required to design a routed and switched network infrastructure and support related services.

The recommended course prerequisite for this curriculum is the acquisition of CCNA level training and knowledge, as gained in the Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN) course. The new DESGN 640-863 exam is needed in order for candidates to achieve the coveted CCDA certification.
