A+ Certification 220-602 - Ram Banking Tutorial
You physically install memory modules into slots on the motherboard, and those slots are arranged into groups called banks. Depending on your computer's design, a bank might include one, two, or four slots. When you install new memory, you must fill every slot in a bank. For example, if your computer uses two-slot banks, then you must install memory modules in pairs. Many modern computers and notebooks use single-slot banks. With the, you have to install only one module. Your owner's manual will tell you whether you must install RAM in banks. Additionally, markings on the motherboard - either text labels or outlines - will identify the banks, if present.
With many motherboards, you must also use the same type and speed of memory in every slot in a bank. In a few situations, you must use the same type and speed of memory in every memory slot in your computer, even across different banks.
In most computers you simply leave empty any extra slots. However, in computers that use DRDRAM (Rambus memory), you must fill empty slots with a continuity module, which is a small circuit board designed to complete the electrical circuit but not add RAM to your system.

There are many options for CompTIA A+ certification training courses. You can take a A+ cbt self-study course or A+ study guides. If you need a classroom training environment, you may take A+ boot camp class. The training classes are 5 days long and include a A+ certification guarantee!
