CAWBL - Cisco Advanced Wireless Bridging Lab v4.0 Training Classes
Get the ultimate hands-on training when you choose the Cisco Advanced Wireless Bridging Lab v4.0 training class. This intensive course is designed to give you the required skills you will need when designing and deploying long distance wireless bridge links.
This course features focused, instructor-led demonstrations and numerous hands-on, instructor-guided labs that are designed to challenge all students - even the most experienced RF engineer.
During the CAWBL training class, you will focus on the basics of bridging, topologies supported, regulations (FCC, ETSI, and FAA), calculation tools, path considerations, antenna selection and alignment, mounting considerations, NEMA enclosures, towers, lightning protection, and Spanning Tree Protocol. In addition, you will work on performing path analysis exercises and designing bridge links with specific tools including a compass, GPS, and TOPO maps.
During the Cisco Advanced Wireless Bridging Lab v4.0 training class, you will work with state-of-the-art equipment, including the Cisco Aironet 1300 and 1400 series bridges as well as appropriate antennas. You will have the opportunity to actually install several bridge links and you will align antennas using the GigaWave state-of-the-art Bridging Tower . With this in mind, dress comfortably.
The hands-on labs require the use of your personal laptop computer. Make sure to bring a laptop equipped with a free 32-bit Card-Bus slot and an Ethernet port. This laptop should run either Microsoft Windows 2000 (SP4) or MS Windows XP. In addition, it should either have a 9-pin serial port or a USB-to-serial adapter. Most importantly, make sure that you have administrator rights to the laptop because you will need to install drivers for the wireless client that is used in class.

What You'll Learn
By enrolling in this training class, you will learn about regulatory bodies and their impact on bridge installations, configuring bridges for point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and repeater bridge topologies, conducting path analysis with available software tools, selecting antennas for maximum optimization, and configuring Cisco bridges with Spanning Tree Protocol.
You will also learn about mounting requirements for rooftops and towers, enabling security on a wireless bridge link, methodologies for path analysis, designing wireless paths with TOPO maps, and using GPS receivers and a compass with a TOPO map.
Other topics include designing links with GPS and TOPO software, aligning antennas with TOPO maps and a compass, installing antennas and sealing their connections properly, testing links for efficiency, and installing NEMA boxes, bridge equipment, and lightning protection.
